Brand Background

Hemp Valley Farm is a small-batch CBD brand based in San Clemente, CA, offering tinctures, balms, and gummies for relaxation, sleep, and recovery. With deep roots in clean, farm-grown ingredients and an active lifestyle ethos, the brand had recently completed a major visual overhaul from packaging to web design. My role was to step in for the final piece of that evolution: creating visual assets that matched the elevated tone of the rebrand while honoring the founders’ story and community roots.

The Creative Gap

Despite their strong origin story and thoughtful product formulations, Hemp Valley Farm’s previous imagery felt casual and inconsistent. More aligned with local pop-ups than a premium wellness brand. The visuals lacked cohesion, polish, and a clear creative direction, falling short of the elevated tone the founders envisioned. After working with two other photographers, they still hadn’t seen visuals that fully captured the essence of their refreshed brand. There was a disconnect between the care put into the product and how it was presented, and that gap was starting to hold them back from growing into their next chapter.

How We Approached It

This was more than just a shoot, but a full collaborative endeavor. From the early strategy calls to the final day on set, we worked closely to refine every creative detail. The shoot was guided by a clear visual strategy rooted in “use occasions”. Scenes that reflected how real people integrate Hemp Valley Farm’s products into their lives: post-surf recovery, mid-round golf breaks, and jiu-jitsu wind-downs.

The shoot took place at their headquarters, using the founders themselves as talent to ground the brand in authenticity. Lighting was carefully chosen to balance clean, elevated tones with a grounded, lifestyle feel. Every prop and setup was intentionally selected to reflect their wellness-forward, California-grown ethos, creating visuals that were both aspirational and accessible.

Impact

The new visuals helped bring Hemp Valley Farm’s rebrand to life, bridging the gap between how the brand felt internally and how it appeared to the outside world. The updated imagery finally aligned with the care, quality, and intention behind their products, elevating their presence across their new website and social media.

More than anything, the shoot gave the team a renewed sense of confidence. They could finally see their brand reflected clearly and professionally, on par with more established names in the wellness space. As Noosha put it, “Exactly what we envisioned, and even better… every picture tells a story in a clean, modern, yet natural way.”

Creative reflection

This was one of the most collaborative projects I’ve worked on. From our early strategy conversations to the final gallery, every step was shaped by mutual trust and thoughtful refinement. We didn’t rush the process. We took the time to align on creative direction, to rework the deck, and to stay grounded in what the brand actually needed.

The final visuals brought cohesion. They gave the team a sense of pride and clarity, and helped position them to compete with more established names in the space. That’s always the intention behind my work—images that reflect the brand with purpose and give the team confidence in how they show up.
